Can I do a degree after a diploma?
Yes. A diploma in a related field usually grants credit transfer into the second year of a bachelor's degree, cutting one year off the total. The amount of credit awarded depends on the receiving university and how closely the syllabuses match.
How many SPM credits do I need for a diploma?
Three SPM credits is the general minimum. Technical diplomas normally require Mathematics at credit level plus a science or technical subject, while business and social science diplomas are more flexible. Polytechnic places are awarded through UPU on merit.
Is a diploma worse than a pre-university programme?
No, it is a different design. A pre-university programme only prepares you for a degree, while a diploma is itself an employable qualification. The trade-off is time: diploma-then-degree usually totals about five years versus four via STPM or matriculation.
