Who's behind Degreemate
Degreemate came out of a university workshop, not a marketing budget. These are the people who build it, the programme it sits inside, and what has been written about it by people who don't work for us.
It started with a question, not a product
A cross-faculty group at Universiti Malaya (pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, chemistry, engineering and statistics) was asked to find a problem worth solving before building anything. The question that stuck came from parents: how do you help a child make an informed education and career choice in a job market that keeps changing?
That question became Degreemate: a platform that matches students to degree programmes and career pathways using probabilistic modelling, rather than sending them to whoever pays for the referral. It grew from a workshop discussion into a supervised research project and then into the site you're on.

Supervises the research programme Degreemate is built under, and leads the validation surveys that decide what gets built next. A statistician by training, which is why the matching engine reports probabilities rather than a single confident answer.
Haziq Halifi
Co-founder, product & engineeringBuilds and maintains the platform: the catalogue, the matching engine, the merit calculator and everything families actually touch. Also builds JomSkor SPM, an SPM exam practice app for Malaysian students, and is the person who answers the feedback form here.
