Oncologist

Specialist doctor who treats cancer with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted drugs and plans each patient's care, at MOH cancer centres, university and private hospitals. You get there after a medical degree, housemanship, years as a medical officer and specialist training in clinical oncology.

- SPM with strong science results → Matriculation, Asasi or A-Level → MBBS/MD (5 years) → 2-year housemanship (UD9) → medical officer, ideally in an oncology or radiotherapy unit → Master of Clinical Oncology at a public university or a recognised fellowship such as FRCR (Clinical Oncology) → NSR listing. Medical oncologists instead go through internal medicine and then oncology subspecialty training.
