Manages patient records in hospitals and clinics: filing and retrieving case notes, coding diagnoses for statistics and insurance, releasing medical reports and helping move to electronic records. In government hospitals the entry post is Penolong Pegawai Tadbir (Rekod Perubatan), usually filled by diploma holders in information or health-records management.

You can enter this career straight after SPM. A degree is optional, not required.

How people get into it here: SPM (credits in BM and English, pass Maths) → Diploma in Information Management (e.g. UiTM, which lists Assistant Medical Records Officer as a job) or a health-information/medical-records diploma → apply on SPA for Penolong Pegawai Tadbir (Rekod Perubatan) N5 at KKM, or to private hospitals as a medical records executive/clinical coder → with a degree you can later move up to Pegawai Tadbir (Rekod Perubatan) N9.
