Teaches students to memorise and recite the Quran with correct tajwid at tahfiz schools, state and private maahad, mosques or online. Most start by completing a tahfiz programme after SPM, such as the Darul Quran JAKIM Diploma Tahfiz, and memorising all 30 juz.

You can enter this career straight after SPM. A degree is optional, not required.

How people get into it here: SPM with at least a C in Bahasa Melayu, Arabic and an Islamic studies subject → apply to the 3-year Darul Quran JAKIM Diploma Tahfiz Al-Quran & Al-Qiraat (written test and interview; age 21 or below) or a state or private maahad tahfiz → memorise 30 juz → teach at a tahfiz school, maahad or mosque, or online. A shorter route is an SKM Level 3 tahfiz teaching course at a TVET college. A degree in Quran studies plus a teaching qualification opens government teaching posts.
