Diagnoses and fixes smartphones and tablets, replacing screens, batteries, charging ports and board components and solving software faults, at service centres, phone shops or their own kiosk. Short GIATMARA and TVET courses leading to SKM Level 2 or 3 are the usual way in, and many graduates open their own shop.

You can enter this career straight after SPM. A degree is optional, not required.

How people get into it here: No SPM grade requirement for many courses → smartphone repair course at GIATMARA, a state skills centre or another TVET provider (a few weeks to 6 months) → SKM Level 2/3 or a provider certificate → work at a service centre or phone shop → open your own repair kiosk (TEKUN, MARA or other micro-financing can help).
