MUET 2027 Dates: Registration, Speaking and Written Test for All 3 Sessions

MUET runs three sessions a year. For 2027, the written tests are on 10 April (Session 1), 24 July (Session 2) and 23 October (Session 3), and registration for Session 1 opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 11 January 2027. Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia has not put results dates in the calendar; it announces them on its portal and social media.

Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (MPM) published the MUET calendar for 2027 with an update dated 7 September 2026. It follows the usual pattern of three regular sessions a year, each with a registration window, about two weeks of speaking tests, and one day for the written papers.

MPM states that all dates are subject to amendment, so re-check the calendar on the MPM portal before you plan around it.

You do not choose your speaking date. It is assigned and shown on your registration slip (MUET/D), which MPM uploads about six weeks before the test.

What is left of 2026

Registration for Session 3 2026 closed on 19 July 2026. Candidates already registered sit the speaking test on 6, 7, 8, 12, 13 or 14 October 2026 and the written test on 17 October 2026.

If you missed it and need a result before Session 1 2027, the only route left this year is MUET on Demand, which still has November and December sittings.

Notice how early registration closes

Look at the gap between the closing date and the written test:

  • Session 1 2027 closes on 11 January, about three months before the 10 April paper.
  • Session 2 2027 closes on 23 April, three months before the 24 July paper.
  • Session 3 2027 closes on 25 July, about three months before the 23 October paper.

This is the detail that catches people. By the time you start thinking about a session, its registration is often already closed. MPM's 2026 registration guide allows late payment for only five days after the closing date, with an RM70 late charge.

When do results come out?

The calendar does not list results dates. MPM's registration guide says the date is announced on the official MPM portal, Facebook and Instagram. On that day:

  • results can be checked from 10.00 am on the MPM results page, or by SMS;
  • the e-certificate (e-Sijil) can be downloaded from 3.00 pm.

As a reference point from 2026 only: the Session 2 written test was on 27 June 2026, and MPM posted its results-checking announcement on 17 August 2026, roughly seven weeks later. Treat that as a 2026 observation, not a promise for 2027.

Which session should you sit?

Work backwards from the date you need the result in hand.

  • Applying through UPU for the 2027/2028 intake. The dates for that cycle are not published yet. In the 2026/2027 cycle, applications for STPM-level applicants ran from 29 January to 15 May 2026 in two phases, and the updating phase opened in the third week of July 2026. If 2027 follows a similar shape, Session 2 (written test 24 July 2027) would be too late, and Session 1 is the last regular session worth counting on. Sitting Session 3 2026 or earlier gives you room to re-sit. Watch /tarikh-penting for the 2027 UPU dates.
  • In matriculation, foundation or Form 6. Your institution usually registers you as a school or institution candidate. Ask the MUET coordinator which session they are registering your batch for.
  • Already at university and need MUET for graduation. Do not leave it to your final semester. Pick a session at least a year before you expect to graduate, so a re-sit is still possible.

Before you choose, check the band your programme needs in the minimum MUET band guide, and what each paper involves in the MUET format guide.

How to register and what it costs

For 2026, the fee for a regular session is RM150 for Malaysian candidates and RM350 for non-citizens. The 2027 guide was not yet on the portal when we checked on 1 October 2026, so confirm the fee when registration opens.

  • School and institution candidates are registered online by the school's MUET examination secretary or the institution's coordinator.
  • Private individual candidates register online themselves at muetj3.mpm.edu.my. Test centres for private candidates are limited, so register as soon as the window opens.

After registering, save the registration statement (MUET/PP). MPM treats a registration without it as incomplete.

For the wider application timeline, see the UPU 2027 guide and the academic calendar.

Source note: session dates are from Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia's MUET calendars for 2026 (updated 25 February 2026) and 2027 (updated 7 September 2026); fees and procedures are from MPM's registration guide for MUET 2026; UPU dates are from the Ministry of Higher Education's 2026/2027 circular. All dates are subject to change by MPM, so verify on the official MPM portal before registering.

University Grading Systems in Malaysia Compared: Grade Points by University

Malaysian universities all use a 4.00 scale, but the points behind each letter differ: A- is 3.67 at UiTM, UKM, UTM and IIUM, 3.70 at UM and 3.750 at UPM. Only some scales have an A+, the pass grade ranges from C to D, and unlike SPM every grade is weighted by credit hours.

Dean's List Requirements in Malaysian Universities: GPA and Credit Rules

Most Malaysian public universities award the Dean's List for a semester GPA of 3.50 with at least 12 credits, but UM and UMK ask for 3.70, UKM and UTM for 3.67, and UPM for 3.750. A repeated course, a pass/fail course or a disciplinary record can disqualify you even when the GPA is high enough.

GPA is the total of (grade point × credit hours) for one semester divided by that semester's credit hours; CGPA is the same sum across every semester divided by all credit hours. It is not the average of your semester GPAs. How a failed or repeated course is counted depends on your university's regulations.
